Romtelecom broadcasts the UEFA Champions League football games on the new Dolce Sport channel
Starting August 26, Romtelecom Dolce and NextGen will broadcast live a number of 112 football games from the UEFA Champions League via the DOLCE SPORT channel.
Romtelecom obtained the right for the exclusive broadcast of the football games included in the second package of television rights. The package includes live games, the briefs of the games and a weekly show analyzing the games, as well as the transmission rights of the games via Internet, on www.romtelecom.ro. Dolce Sport channel will be available on Dolce (DTH and IPTV) and NextGen TV platforms.
„We want to offer to our over one million TV customers a supplementary benefit by adding the Dolce Sport channel to the Dolce and NextGen packages, without them having to pay anything in addition to their current subscription. By launching Dolce Sport channel, Romtelecom is taking a new step forward in implementing its strategy of positioning the company as the preferred entertainment provider on the Romanian market, after launching IPTV Dolce Interactiv and the HD channels,” stated Ovidiu Ghiman, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer.
The other 34 games from the UEFA Champions League, which are not part of the package taken over by Romtelecom, will be re-broadcast on the same channel, besides being broadcast live on the TVR channels. Purchasing the transmission rights for UEFA Champions League football games for two seasons 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, is part of Romtelecom strategy to offer as much exclusive high quality content as possible to its clients.
UEFA Champions League is the most popular European football competition between clubs, registering each time huge ratings.
At present Dolce TV has exceeded 900,000 customers, attracted in approx. three years since its launch, while NextGen reached over 160,000 customers, in less then two years since its launch.
