Romtelecom warns its clients to avoid those trying to use the company's name for frauds

During the last days, several Romtelecom clients informed the company that unknown persons, recommended as Romtelecom employees, tried to deceive them, acknowledging that they can win important prizes if they purchase pre-paid cards and send their codes.

To be specific, Romtelecom clients complain about that they are called and announced that they won by toss consisting prizes in money or electronic products, the company offered as a part of a supposed promotion. To get the prizes, the persons called were asked to buy pre-paid GSM cards and to send the card code to a phone number or in an envelope to a postal address.    

The company informs the clients that it doesn’t have an ongoing promotion under conditions described above, that the requests made on behalf of Romtelecom are a fraud and it advices them not to give course to such requests from those trying to falsely use the company name.

"Romtelecom made a complaint with the Prosecutor’s office from the Court of Law of Bucharest and required an investigation for the false use of the company name. We recommend the damaged persons to present their complaint to the police office so the persons involved in this false action can be identified and be brought to justice . According to Criminal Code, the fraud is punished with imprisonment”, Cristina Popescu, Public Relations Director of Romtelecom declared.
