Romtelecom launches Dolce - the total digital television with the lowest monthly subscription on the market

Today, November 29, 2006, Romtelecom launched a new digital television service which completes the company’s portfolio of voice and Internet products. The new service will be available under the Dolce brand name, with the slogan “total digital television”.

From now on, our clients have the possibility to choose a digital TV service as an alternative to the analogue one, offered by the operators currently dominating the cable TV market. Dolce, our digital television service, targets people from rural and urban areas equally. Dolce is based on state of the art technology, as Romtelecom collaborated with important international partners for the launch of this service: NDS (international leader for the multimedia content security and conditioned access systems), Tandberg (one of the highest reputed names in the broadcasting industry and winner of the prize for the best satellite product in 2006) and S3 Satcom (one of the most experienced suppliers of satellite systems in Europe, which is also working for BBC, CBS News, etc).

The basic package, Variety, available for Romtelecom clients for a monthly price of 3.9 Euro, exclusive of VAT, includes 45 programs to which, depending on clients’ preferences, 7 other thematic packages can be added: Explorer (includes three supplementary Discovery channels – monthly subscription of 1.4 Euro, exclusive of VAT), Active (TeleSport – monthly subscription of 1.4 Euro, exclusive of VAT, Style (best selection of music, fashion and travel channels – monthly subscription of 1.4 Euro, exclusive of VAT), Midnight (TV channels for the adults without prejudices – monthly subscription of 1.4 Euro, exclusive of VAT), HBO (monthly subscription of 2.9 Euro, exclusive of VAT), Cinemax (monthly subscription of 2.2 Euro, exclusive of VAT), MaxPak (includes HBO, Cinemax and Cinemax2 – monthly subscription of 3.9 Euro, exclusive of VAT), to which the Dream option can also be added, which contains all the thematic packages, at a reduced price (monthly subscription of 7.4 Euro, exclusive of VAT). Dolce clients will also benefit of an interactive electronic TV guide which offers complete information about the programs broadcasted within the next 7 days. At the same time, they have access to the option of restricting the access of children to certain TV channels through parental controls.

Those who choose to become Dolce clients will benefit free of charge from the Explorer thematic package and a free subscription for Variety, Explorer, Active, Style, Midnight packages for the second receiver they buy, as long as they are paying the subscription for the first receiver for the same packages. In addition, Romtelecom clients may benefit from a free subscription for three months for Variety and Active packages, in case of contracts concluded for a period of one year, or for six months – in case of contracts concluded for 2 years. For Romtelecom clients, the installation kit is offered free of charge, regardless the duration of the contract, and activation is also free of charge for 2-year period contracts. Also, clients have the possibility to buy the second receiver in installments.

In addition, the digital television service Dolce can be used as part of a voice-internet-television package, at attractive prices. Using combined packages offered by Romtelecom, the clients can pay only one bill for all the three services.

In order to benefit from this service, the users need only a simple installation kit - a dish and a set top box receiver, a personal card and a multifunctional remote control. The installation time takes less than a week from the moment the order was submitted.
