George Makowski - Chief Commercial Officer, Business Sector

Mr. Makowski was born in 1954. He came to Romtelecom from Cesky Telecom (now Telefonica O2), where he was, since 2004, Chief Sales Officer, ultimately responsible for the sales, marketing and customer care to corporate, business and government customers of the incumbent fixed line operator in the Czech Republic. During his time at Cesky Telecom he reversed the decline of voice services within the business segment and also turned round broadband sales resulting in creating the fastest growing ADSL sales anywhere in Europe for two consecutive years. Before Cesky Telecom, Mr. George Makowski worked in Paris, for Groupe Bull (1986 - 1993), as Director of the Retail & Distribution Management Group. Since 1993, he worked for Ameritech International/PTK Centertel (now Orange) as Vice President, Sales and Marketing Director of the first mobile operator in Poland. In 1997 George Makowski became the COO of @Entertainment, a cable operator in Poland, and following this, the VP Sales & Marketing of Netia, Poland’s largest alternative fixed line telecom operator. Then George Makowski joined Energis, Poland as CEO, selling telecom solutions to the business sector.
