MPLS IP-VPN International offers a full range of VPN conectivity solutions, including:

Carrier MPLS IP VPN - provides carrier-grade solutions designed to fit carriers’ requirements. Through Romtelecom MPLS IP VPN International, the carriers can rapidly increase their service offering, with extensive connectivity solutions beyond their network boundaries. In addition to basic VPN functionalities, supplementary features enhance the customer benefits with integrated Internet access, back-up solutions, and Customer Premises Equipment packages.

Customer MPLS IP VPN - implemented over the MPLS network, enabled with state of the art technology, high resilience, and European comprehensive footprint, the service provides the customers with worldwide coverage, offering consistent features on a global basis.

The Carrier MPLS IP VPN service provides connectivity between the interconnection point implemented with the operator and the sites of the operator’s customers or directly between two customer sites, presenting a MPLS service interface in all access points to Romtelecom’s network. The service includes:

• The access port to VPN
• The following parameters:
  • Bandwidth
  • Symmetric speed for upload/download
  • CoS mix
• The local dedicated access (Access Line)

1. Available bandwidths

   The Carrier MPLS IP VPN service standard offer includes the following port speeds:

2. Access Methods

   Romtelecom will provide the local dedicated access (Access Line) as part of the basic offer. The following options are available as standard solutions, depending on the requested bandwidth:

   • Access over copper: g.SHDSL and Leased Lines (HDSL, ISDN and NewBridge)
   • Access over FO: Ethernet - for service bandwidths higher than 2 Mbps, the CPE will be connected using FO media.
3. Service topology and coverage

   The default topology of the service is a full meshed topology (Any2Any), however, the Hub & Spoke configuration can be provided as well, upon operator/ customer’s request. The service has an international coverage

4. Service Management

   The following alternatives are available:

   • Service Managed - the CPE Management is not included in the standard offer. It is recommended for the operators to subscribe the full package of services, including the CPE package, in order to back the service with sound guarantees.

   Service Unmanaged (CPE Management not included)

5. Classes of Service (CoS)

   Romtelecom offers 4 tiered CoS performance levels, backed by service level guarantees, as follows:

   • Real Time - real time applications, sensitive to jitter, highly interactive, such as VoIP or videoconference
   • Mission-Critical - business critical applications, transactional information, highly interactive and highly sensitive to delays, such as signalling or banking application
   • Standard - standard business applications, such as simple transactions, SAP, ERP, Oracle, video streaming or network services requesting guaranteed bandwidth
   • Best Effort - E-mail, Intranet, Internet, other applications that can accommodate variable throughput delay
6. Service Level Agreement (SLA)

   Two levels of SLA are available:

   • Standard
   • Premium (guaranteed parameters refer to: Service Availability, Latency, Jitter, Packet loss)
7. Reporting

   The Reporting functionality is available online, via website. Bandwidth reports are available on hourly/ monthly/ yearly basis. Romtelecom will provide a unique login name and password to the reporting tool.

1. CPE Rental

   CPE Rental includes:

   • Provision of a CPE compliant to the service features
   • CPE installation and initial configuration
   • Repairs and replacements, as necessary to deliver the contracted service
   • CPE recovering at service termination date
2. CPE Management

   The CPE Management package includes:

   • Fault Management
   • Administration
   • Security Management
3. Internet Access

   This service provides permanent Internet access over the same Access Line used for VPN locations connection. Internet Access is available:

   • At the HQ location (Hub & Spoke configuration)
   • Distributed throughout VPN

   Internet Accesss might also be provided over a separate Access Link.

4. Allocation of IP addressses from Romtelecom classes

   Allocation of public IP addresses from Romtelecom classes - 8/16/32/64/128/256 IP addresses - is available only bundled with the Internet Access service.

5. NAT – IP addresses translation

   The service is available only bundled with Internet Access service and consist in translation of customer private IP addresses to one or more public IP addresses from Romtelecom classes.

6. Backup/ Protection

   For Standard SLA the access components are not protected. For Premium SLA the protection of the access side is a must, and different level of protection can be added.
   The following access line types are available for backup access to VPN:

   • G.SHDSL (backup for Ethernet Access Line) - in case of Ethernet Access Line failure, the CPE will route the VPN traffic through DSL Access Line
   • Leased Lines (backup for g.SHDSL Access Line)
     • TDM: at DSL AL (Access Line) failure, the CPE will route the VPN traffic through TDM Access Line (Newbridge technology)
     • ISDN: provides ISDN dialup access into VPN (VPDN). At DSL AL failure, the CPE will route the VPN traffic through ISDN Access Line, by setting up a call to the access number allocated by Romtelecom

MPLS IP VPN International offer a high degree of flexibility and scalability, being designed to support full meshed or hub-and-spoke customer configuration, offering the customers the benefit of total control and flexibility for their traffic CoS.

Simplified Accounting - one stop shopping solution for worldwide communications needs, enabling customers to avoid the hassle of dealing with different service providers in different countries.

Flexibility - as customers’ business evolves, the service can be customized to various requirements, from the simplest to the most exquisite, allowing deployment of different network topologies, increasing capacities, adding new locations/ applications, choosing among different levels of service management.

Transparency - the service offers the same features worldwide, with no manipulations of customer CoS, enabling seamless integration with customer Intranets.

High Efficiency - the dynamic bandwidth allocation feature helps the customers to maximize the service usage, allowing higher bandwidth consuming applications additional throughput to the bandwidth contracted, in case other applications consume less and the overall transmitting capacity is below the service bandwidth value.

Reliability - the service is built on a redundant and fault tolerant backbone, based on Cisco carrier class routers, designed for congestion avoidance and backed by industry leading SLAs. The network security architecture is built on multiple layers to provide maximum protection, while the network survivability derives from MPLS fully meshed nature.

Security - the MPLS Switching VPNs technology offers the same level of security as connection-oriented VPNs. Packets from one VPN will not inadvertently go to another VPN. Security is provided at the edge and core of the network:

• at the edge of the network - the packets received from a customer are placed on the correct VPN
• at the backbone - the VPN traffic is kept separate.

Strong SLAs for QoS - MPLS IP VPN International is complemented with two service levels, Standard or Premium, tailored to different customer needs.
