Q. How do I activate my e-mail account?
The activation does not affect the functionality of your email account. It is just a step you have to make only once, when you first log in.
Emails shall be received in your e-mail account whether you activated it or not -no e-mail is lost!
When you first log in you shall see the following window:
Step 1.
You have to fill in the security code from the security image in the box under the image. If you do not understand what is written in the image, refresh the page (press F5) and the image shall change.
Step 2.
Click the button on the bottom of the page "I accept. Create my account".
You successfully activated your account.

Access www.clicknet.ro and, in the login section on the right, enter your user name (without "@clicknet.ro") and password.
If you access the account for the first time since the change of the e-mail platform, you shall have to activate the account. See the "How do I activate my e-mail account?" section.
If, when you try to log in for the first time, you are directed to a page where you are required to change your password, this is is because your password does not meet the new security standards.
According to the security standard, the password must contain minimum 6 characters. After choosing a new password, you shall be automatically directed to your e-mail box.

4. Activation of the POP function in the e-mail account
In order to use a POP client you need to first activate this function from your e-mail account.
You need to access the web interface of your account to activate your POP3/IMAP access or the forwarding. For this purpose, read the "How do I read my e-mails through the web interface?" section. After you accessed your account using the web interface, follow the steps in the order described below:
Step 1.
In the up right corner you can find the SETTINGS button (in case your account is set in the English language) or SETARI (in case your account is set in the Romanian language).
If your account is set in the Romanian language, go to step 2.
In order to change the language in which the content of your email account is displayed, click SETTINGS. This page shall be displayed as follows:

Under the Language section, choose ROMANIAN or any other language you wish:

On the bottom of the page press the Save Changes button to save the made changes:

Step 2.
In the settings page, choose the Forwarding and POP/IMAP category.
You shall be sent to the following page with your e-mail account settings:

This page contains 3 settings categories:
- Forwarding – this option offers you the possibility to forward all the e-mails coming in your e-mail account to another account.
- POP downloading – this option offers you the possibility to download your messages using an e-mail client such as Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.
- IMAP Access – this option offers you the possibility to duplicate your director structure from the ClickNet e-mail account, in your e-mail client: Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc

5. POP3 e-mail client general settings
(ATTENTION: In order to use a POP e-mail client you have to activate the POP function first. In order to find out the manner to activate it, read "Activation of the POP function from the e-mail account"). In the table below you shall find the standard settings for the Clicknet e-mail account powered by Google. By means of them, you can set an e-mail client in order to download and send e-mails using your ClickNet account through the POP protocol.
- Activate the POP e-mail option in your ClickNet e-mail account powered by Google. Do not forget to save the changes!
- Configure your POP e-mail client using the following settings:

Also, if you have problems in sending e-mails although you confirmed that the encrypting is active for SMTP in your client, try to configure another port for SMTP: 465 or 587.
- Now you are ready to use your POP e-mail client with the ClickNet e-mail account powered by Google.

6. My authentication data in the POP client are not accepted
After a number of failed attempts to connect through the POP protocol, the account may be blocked for safety reasons.
A common error in this case is the following:

- Step 2.
Enter your user name and password.
ATTENTION: The user name shall not include "@clicknet.ro".

After having entered the user name and the code in the security image, click Unblock.
You successfully unblocked your e-mail Clicknet account.

ATTENTION: in order to use a POP e-mail client you first need to activate your POP function. In order to find out how to activate it, read "Activation of the POP function in the e-mail account".
In order to set the Outlook Express client to function with your ClickNet e-mail account powered by Google:
- Open Outlook or Outlook Express.
- Click on the Tools menu and select Accounts.
- Click Add and then click Mail.

- Enter your name in the Display name field, then click Next.
- Enter your full ClickNet address in the E-mail address field, then click Next.

- Enter pop.gmail.com in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field. Enter smtp.gmail.com in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.

- Click Next.
- Enter the user name in the Account name field (the user name is the full e-mail address: name@clicknet.ro). Enter the password of your ClickNet account in the Password field, then click Next.

- Click Finish.
- Select pop.gmail.com from the account list, then click Properties.

- Click the Advanced tab.
- Fill in with the following information*:
- Tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL) in the Outgoing Mail(SMTP) window.
- Enter 465 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field.
- Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Under Incoming mail (POP3), tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL). The port shall change to 995.

- The order between Outgoing and Incoming fields varies according to the version. Make sure that you entered the information correctly in each field.
- Come back to the Servers tab and tick the box next to My server requires authentication.

- Click OK.
Congratulations! You successfully configured your ClickNet e-mail account powered by Google and you can now send and receive e-mails.

- Click Add, then click Mail.
- Enter your name in the Display name field, then click Next.
- Enter the full e-mail ClickNet address in the E-mail address field, then click Next.
- Enter "pop.gmail.com" in the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field. Enter the "smtp.gmail.com" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field.
- Click Next.
- Enter the user name in the Account name field (the user name is the full e-mail address: nume@clicknet.ro). Enter the password of your ClickNet account in the Password field, then click Next.

- Click Finish.
- Select pop.gmail.com from the account list, then click Properties.
- Click the tab.
- Under Outgoing Mail (SMTP), tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Enter "465" in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field.

- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- Login Information
- User Name: Enter the ClickNet user name (this is your full e-mail address (name@clicknet.ro).
- Password: Enter the password of your ClickNet account.

- Click More Settings, then click the Outgoing Server tab.
- Tick the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

- Click the Advanced tab and then tick the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) from Incoming Server (POP3).
- Tick the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) from Outgoing Server (SMTP) and enter "465" in the Outgoing server (SMTP) box.
- Click OK.
- Click Test Account Settings. After having received the Congratulations! All tests completed successfully message, click Close.
- Click Next, and then click Finish.
- Open Outlook.
- Click on the Tools menu and select Accounts Settings.
- In the E-mail tab, click New.
- If you are guided to select an e-mail "Choose E-mail Service" service, select Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and then click Next
- Fill in all the necessary fields using the following information:
- Your Name: Enter your full name
- E-mail Address: Enter your full ClickNet address.
- Password: Enter the password of your ClickNet account.
- Manually configure server settings or additional server types: leave this option unticked if you want automatic Outlook 2007 configuration. If you want to configure Outlook 2007 manually, tick this box now.

- Click Next. If you chose Outlook 2007 to be configured immediately, you are done! Just click Finish.

- If you chose to configure Outlook 2007 manually, select Internet E-mail and then click Next.
- Check User Information and enter the following additional data:
- Server Information
- Account Type: POP3
- Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- Logon Information
- User Name: Enter your full e-mail ClickNet address.
- Password: Enter the password of your ClickNet account.
- Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): this box remains unticked.

- Click the More Settings button and select the Outgoing Server tab.
- Tick the box next to My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click the Advanced tab and tick the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) from Incoming Server (POP3).
- In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, enter "587" and select TLS from the drop-down menu next to Use the following type of encrypted connection.
- Click OK.
- Click Test Account Settings. After receiving the Congratulations! All tests completed successfully message, click Close.
- Click Next, then click Finish
- Open Apple Mail.
- Click on the Mail menu and select Preferences.
- Open the Accounts window and then click on the "plus" sign (+) to add a new account.

- Enter your name in the Full Name field.
- Enter your ClickNet address in the Email Address field.
