The leased lines service is an electronic communications service ensuring permanent connection between two network points. Leased lines service is a contract-based provision, by which Romtelecom provides to the users, for a determined or undetermined period of time with one or more dedicated leased lines with specific characteristics.
- Provide a reliable connection, being rented for a fixed monthly fee, irrespective of the overall rental period;
- Customer dedicated, and highly recommendable for customers requiring regular and lengthy connections between two fixed locations, as well as a fast, effective and reliable communication channel for sending and receiving data;
- May be used on a continuous basis to transmit large amounts of data at the maximum rate allowed by the line;
- Provide a wide range of transmission rates, designed to fit various applications. Users can opt for a specific line type according to the volume, type and rate of the transmitted data;
- Allow for accurate budget calculation;
- Various discounts can be granted, depending on: total rental fee, terms of agreement, and the number of leased lines.
Connection tariff: paid once (at the leased line connection) per terminal point. The tariff ought to be paid in full regardless of the leased line operation period.
The monthly tariff for a leased line has two components:
The monthly tariff for a leased line has two components:
- Basic tariff: The basic tariff is calculated per terminal point and for analogue leased lines of 2 wires. (With 4 wires lines, the tariff will be doubled.);
- Length tariff: The leased line length measurement unit is a kilometer (km) and the length of the line is measured by "crow flight", between the first and the last local telephone exchange (transmission equipment station).
The calculation of a leased line monthly tariff is made by adding the fixed tariff to the tariff per km which is multiplied by the length of leased line (km).
Advantages of digital leased lines as compared to analog lines:
- Easy upgrading and downgrading, in terms of the transfer rates required by the customer (nx64Kbps, where n=1/16 and 2 Mbps;
- Guaranteed bandwidth;
- Higher quality;
- Permanent quality monitoring.
The leased lines can be used for voice and data transmissions. The type of leased line is chosen dependant on the following criteria:
- Type of information transmitted (voice or data transmission);
- Requested bandwidth;
- Locations of the two termination points.
Digital Leased Line service is provided using only Romtelecom modems, while Analogue Leased Line service is offered based only on a client-owned modem.
